"My Notes" - unable to export the transcript but I can' export the summary

I’m trying to use “My Notes” to save the transcripts of my meetings with clients.  It is saving the transcript but, when I try to export it, only the title goes, not the transcript.  I am able to export the summary, though, with no problem.  Can anyone help?  I’ve followed all the steps I can find on the internet to resolve this issue but, nothing is working.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

I’ve run into a similar issue before. Since the transcript is being saved correctly and the summary exports without any problems, it sounds like the export function may not be handling transcript data properly.

A few things you could try:

  • Make sure the transcript has fully finished processing before attempting to export it.

  • Try exporting from a different browser or using an incognito/private window.

  • Clear your browser cache and sign out/in again.

  • Check whether the transcript can be copied manually from My Notes while the export issue persists.

If none of those steps help and you’ve already followed the available troubleshooting guides, it may be a bug on the platform’s side. In that case, I’d recommend contacting support and including screenshots or a short screen recording showing that only the title exports while the transcript itself is missing.

Hopefully they can identify whether this is a known issue and provide a fix.

Good luck, and please let us know if you find a solution!

I’m having a similar problem but no transcript was saved so no summary was generated. I’ve changed no settings and it has always worked before. Support are telling me it is my fault!

Zoom wants to keep you captured in their AI universe. The issue I have is that the Templates available edit/summarize the meeting in a form that someone at Zoom determined was the best. Even when I use the Long Form the template jumbles the order of the information, leaves out important points and can’t spell proper names for $#!7. The simplest solution would be for the Notes section to have a template called “transcript” and saves it as .txt or .md or even .docx so we have the words in the order they were presented and not the abbreviated AI version of what happened in the meeting. I moved to Pro because I was so sick of all the firefly and otter notetakers clogging up the chat. I thought i could get my meeting transcript free and clear but the flow is MAKING me choose an AI summary. make the transcript available without manual processing!

It sounds like the transcript is being captured correctly in My Notes, but there may be an issue with the export function itself if only the title is included in the exported file. Since summaries are exporting normally, the problem doesn't seem to be related to permissions or access.

A few things you could check:

  • Try exporting from a different browser or device.

  • Clear your browser cache and sign in again.

  • Verify that the transcript is fully saved and visible before attempting the export.

  • Test with a different meeting note to see if the issue is specific to one transcript.

If the behavior is consistent across multiple meetings, it may be a bug on Zoom's side, and opening a support ticket with screenshots of the exported file versus the note contents could help them investigate more quickly.

Has this started happening recently, or have transcript exports never worked correctly on your account?

Annie are you suggesting that I now have to do something to get a transcript? In previous versions, the transcript was saved after the meeting. Done and dusted. Did not require any action, the transcript was saved to the account and I could do with it as I wished. Now AI Companion "captures" it for processing and I can't seem to  see or use the .txt version of the transcript. Every time I open it the transcript is in a container in a window that is hard to read, search, or work with. Although it's a manual step, I would be happy with a Save As menu command with .txt as an option. I don't want to export it to another file. I want it to stay in Zoom.

It sounds like the transcript is being saved correctly, but the export function may only be pulling the note title instead of the full transcript. A few things you could check:

• Try exporting from a different browser or device.
• Clear your browser cache and sign back in.
• Confirm that the transcript is fully processed and visible before exporting.
• Test with a new note to see if the issue is specific to one transcript.

If you've already tried these steps, it may be a bug with the export feature. Contacting the platform's support team with screenshots and details of your browser/device would likely be the fastest way to get it resolved.

Hope you find a solution soon!

The issue is there with both browser and desktop app...

If the summary exports correctly but the transcript only exports the title, it sounds like either a bug or a limitation in the current version of the "My Notes" feature.

A few things to try:

  • Test exporting a different note/transcript to see if the issue is specific to one meeting.
  • Try a different browser or use an incognito/private window.
  • Clear your browser cache and sign out/in again.
  • Check whether the transcript is fully processed and visible before exporting.
  • Verify that you're using the latest version of the app/service.

If the problem persists across multiple transcripts, I'd recommend contacting support and providing a screenshot or screen recording. Since summaries export correctly, this may be a known issue affecting transcript exports specifically.

If the summary exports but the transcript doesn't, it's likely a bug or limitation with the export feature. Try a different browser, clear your cache, and test another transcript. If the issue persists, contact support, as transcript exports may be malfunctioning.

Looks like its an admin setting that needs to be toggled. Not sure if yours is greyed out or not, but I had to enable this setting.

After I enabled that, I was able to export:

They need to fix this, what's the point in paying for this app if it can't do this?
