Annotations drawn from iPad on Windows Screen Share vanish immediately (v7.1.5) - Anyone else?

Hi everyone,

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where annotations drawn from an iPad onto a Windows PC's shared screen keep disappearing instantly?

The Problem:

  • Host: Windows PC (sharing screen, Zoom v7.1.5)

  • Participant: iPad (annotating via View Options > Annotate, latest Zoom app version)

  • Behavior: When an iPad user draws/writes on the shared screen, the strokes vanish/erase immediately. We have to trace over or rewrite the exact same line 3–4 times before the line finally stays visible.

What we've already tried:

  • Confirmed "Vanishing Pen" is NOT turned on.

  • Updated both Windows client (v7.1.5) and iPadOS app to the latest versions.

  • Toggled "Optimize for video clip" on/off during screen share.

  • Toggled Hardware Acceleration settings on the Windows host.

  • Cleared Zoom cache and performed a full re-installation.

  • Tested across multiple iPads—same behavior on all of them.

It seems like a real-time input sync/rendering issue between iPadOS touch input and the Windows desktop app.

Has anyone else encountered this bug recently, or found a temporary workaround? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

We've seen similar behavior in a few meetings, especially when iPad users annotate on a Windows host. Since you've already ruled out Vanishing Pen and tried the usual troubleshooting steps, it sounds more like a client synchronization or rendering bug than a configuration issue.

One thing you could try is having the Windows host disable and re-enable annotation during the meeting, or test with a different screen-sharing method (sharing a specific window instead of the entire desktop). If possible, also test with an older Zoom desktop version to see whether the issue was introduced in a recent update.

If the problem occurs across multiple iPads and persists after reinstalling both clients, I'd recommend collecting Zoom logs from both the Windows PC and an affected iPad and submitting them to Zoom Support. That will help determine whether it's a known issue with the current release. Hopefully Zoom addresses it in an upcoming update if it's a widespread bug.

We're encountering the same issue (New within the last week) but don't have a solution.  Our organization primarily uses zoom for the markup features during online meetings-both internal and external- and many of the firm leaders use ipads for markup during meetings. Zoom has become unusable for me because of this glitch.
