Using Zoom number on WhatsApp

Is there a way to use my Zoom number to register on WhatApp.

since whatsapp registration sends sms to whatever phone you have, you will need sms on your zoom phone.

My Zoom has Text message facility available even then I get error:  "This is not a valid phone number for US".

Hi Eliot, I’m having the same issue where the system says “This is not a valid phone number for US", despite having SMS enabled for my Zoom phone. Do you have any suggestions on this?

Eliot whatsapp says the Zoom Phone Number is not a valid US number. So, it is not possible to use Zoom number to register on WhatsApp.

I have the same request. I have sms with Zoom Phone, but when trying to use the phone number to use with Whatsapp I get the error message in Whatsapp saying: "This is not a valid phone number for US".

Yes I get same error. My Zoom has Text message facility available even then I get same error - not valid US number.

Has anyone figured this out?  Zoom phone has texting ability and as far as i know, i have a US number here in Maine :-).  Would rather be giving out my zoom phone number (work phone) out to staff over my personal one...

just add your US and Canada numbers to a 10DLC campaign to avoid SMS filtering by mobile operators. After that u can use it.

I don't think that will help as our zoom numbers are already on a 10DLC campaign and use SMS.

we are talking about zoom phone with phone numbers and sms capabilities so we should be able to sign up for whats app with our zoom phone numbers.

So, other virtual phone companies with more attention answered this:

"I'm sorry but since WhatsApp, same as other communication apps require you to get an OTP or One-time PIN code or verification code when registering, you cannot use our phone number to register.

VoIP numbers cannot receive OTPs, Verification Codes or security codes."

I receive Plenty of verification codes on zoom phone. From apple and many other providers.

This sounds like an excuse and not a very good one.

Opened a thread with Zoom and still no answer. Shaming them via twitter to see if that gets something going

It doesn't move beyond this point -  "This is not a valid phone number for US".
Call or SMS option will come after this only.

I can call and text internationally and I get the "This is not a valid phone number for US". What's your Zoom account plan? Maybe you're paying for a higher tier.

It seems Zoom doesn't have any solution how to get message to activate Whatsapp as they can see these discussions but no responses yet.

No, you can’t use a Zoom number to register on WhatsApp. WhatsApp requires a mobile number that can receive SMS or voice calls for verification, which most Zoom (VoIP) numbers do not support.

My Zoom receives & sends texts like any other phone. It depends on what plan you have taken.

Instead of enrolling in WhatsApp through SMS, I found a workaround that involves using a phone call. This method allowed me to receive the verification code via phone, successfully enrolling me in Whatsapp.

How did you force it to call you? Would love to hear your workaround.

This is what I did, it works only WhatsApp for business. 
While configuring WA, enter your VOIP phone numner.
Choose "Didn't receive code?"

You will get prompt "Choose how to verify"
Select Voice Call.
You will get a call on your VOIP number with OTP details and enter that in the OTP field.

Before I'm able to hit "Didn't receive code?", I get the message "This is not a valid phone number for US" and kicks me back to the screen where you enter a phone number. Did you disconnect it from internet or something?

Maybe restriction in the US, I'm based in Asia. No disconnection from the internet, I was able to click "voice call" without any issues.

That did not work. Same error, not a valid mobile number.
