Hi Zoom Community,
I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue for several months now and am hoping someone might be able to help or has had a similar experience.
Issue:
Zoom randomly crashes during meetings, particularly when I’m sharing my screen and actively doing something (e.g. clicking through slides, browsing, using Zoom companion etc.). The crash usually lasts anywhere from 20 seconds to a full minute, then Zoom reconnects itself to the meeting.
What I’ve Tried:
Got a brand new laptop
Updated Zoom to the latest version
Updated my BIOS and drivers
Cleared Zoom cache
Disabled GPU acceleration
Reinstalled Zoom
Used different internet networks
Additional Context:
This issue happens whether I’m in the office, working from home, or at another office location.
It seems to be tied to screen sharing activity, but not every time.
No other applications seem to crash or lag when this happens (only Zoom).
Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix? It’s getting a bit frustrating, especially during important meetings where I am the one sharing screen.
Thanks in advance for any advice or insight!

Since no device or OS info is provided it is difficult to even guess at a solution.
1. Best to connect via ethernet rather than WiFi to avoid interference and double encoding.
2. Video can be GPU and can also be CPU intensive depending upon the hardware. Some hardware can not keep up especially when Zoom is fullscreen.
3. My recommended minimum PC device would be an i7 with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Any less may work most of the time but could randomly max out resources. I have several $200 Lenovo minis using windows 10 pro that work just fine when screen sharing but use 30%+ CPU and GPU occasionally.
If this works please click accept as a solution.

Apologies, let me provide the device/OS info:
- Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
- Lenovo Laptop 21HQ ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 (x64-based PC)
- Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i& - 1355U, 1700 Mhz, 10 Core(s)
Ethernet isn't an option in an open office space in my case. I'm also connected to Ethernet when I WFH.
Thanks for your help and insight.

Same issue. Do not have this problem with discord. i can run games, record games browse and use multiple windows at once. but the minute i only use Zoom, OBS and notepad it crashes. My computer is not new, but more than sufficent for running Zoom.
Currently connected via Ethernet 1000mb/s fibre connection
12700k uses 7% when zoom streaming
32gb ddr4 ram 48% used when zoom streaming
10gb 3080 46% used while zoom streaming
turned off hardware acceleration
Zoom running in window
When it crashes there are no spikes in usage in task manager.

I have been have the same problem. Zoom meetings freeze and more and more frequent "Your Internet connection is unstable" messages during meetings. However, I'm on Verizon 5G wireless and see no interruptions on other devices or TV connections. I've also noticed that connections to webinars on other platforms like On24 don't seem to have connection issues.

I'm having a similar issue, I'm not getting the unstable internet message though. It's freezing, closing, then reopening. This only started when I moved and got Verizon 5G internet, but it also only happens when I use my bluetooth headphones. As soon as I put my headphones back in the case Zoom starts working fine.

For me it feels like a bandwith capacity issue during peak use times maybe. But it seemed to start after I'd had no problem with Verizon 5G for a couple months at first. Also, when I go out and come back in I can always clear the freeze. Until it freezes again. For me it seems to happen whether or not I'm on my bluetooth earbuds.
