Removing control icons

Hey, does anybody know how to customize/remove the icons for the controls at the bottom of the screen? Not all of them. I'd just like to remove the ones I don't use, so that I can make my screen smaller & still see the controls that I actually use.

I'd love to vote for a Zoom feature to enable customizing what icons are displayed on the toolbar for me. But your suggestion on how to do it is not helpful, it requires me to do work and figure out how exactly to submit this feedback, and a high probability that it will be ignored. How about giving me a link to this feature suggestion so I can 1-click vote on it, now that would be helpful.
