Meeting passcode

Hello

I normally join Zoom meetings by clicking on the link and everything works well but I wanted to try to join using the Zoom app instead to see the advantages

However, this leads to the app asking me for the meeting passcode but there isn't one

Can anyone help please and please note that I'm not an advanced Zoom user nor the host

Thanks

When you join using the meeting link, the passcode is already built into it, so no need to type anything in. But if you join through the Zoom app by entering the Meeting ID, you’ll need to enter the passcode separately.

The easiest way to join is by using the meeting link, since it already includes the passcode automatically. If you prefer joining through the Zoom app, you can find the passcode in your meeting invite email or calendar event. If it’s missing, simply ask the meeting host to share it with you.

The Zoom app gives you some extra features and smoother performance, but the link works perfectly fine too.

Hi SafeTex,

If the meeting link works without a passcode, it usually means the passcode is already embedded in the link itself. When you try joining directly through the Zoom app, it asks for the passcode because it doesn’t automatically read it from the link.

The easiest way is to either:

Copy the full meeting link and paste it into the Zoom app’s “Join a Meeting” field—it should automatically detect the passcode.

Or ask the host to provide the passcode separately if the link doesn’t work.

Since you’re not the host, you’ll need the host’s help if the app still insists on a passcode.

It’s a common little Zoom quirk, nothing wrong on your end.
