Why is gallery view recording a pinned participant?

I'm using zoom for legal depositions and started having issues with the gallery view recording. When I have a meeting with a handful of participants I pin down the active speaker so that I can get a full recording of just them speaking. I also have the "record gallery view" setting enabled in the cloud. It seems that here recently the gallery view is no longer recording a  view with all the participants, instead It is just recording the participant that I have pinned.  What's going on?

Fixed it by disabling "Record gallery view with shared screen".

 

Apparently it's some kind of picture-in-picture "feature" that now screws with the layout:
