Chat is GONE!?

This is a pain, can't message anyone can't even get to my colleagues. Just because I'm a basic user? Come on Zoom! You can't do this to free accounts 😞 Please reply and help me find a solution PLEASE! Am very sad 😞

    Easy, buy a license or have all your users switch to something else like Facebook messenger

    @stephanie_ross I am running Zoom on the latest current version, this is it:

    August 12, 2021 version 5.7.5 (939)

    @Dylan Are you the owner of a Basic account, or a Basic user on a larger paid account? If you're a Basic user on a paid account, it could be that your account admin disabled the use of chat for you and others.

    @Bort  Yes, I am indeed the owner of the account. Chat is still not there after the "august 12th update" 😞

    Hey @Dylan, just ensure that this is enabled here and the permissions are correctly set. 

     

    Also, after enabling or if it was already enabled, its also enabled here

     

    Should see something like this in your settings.

    My problem occurred before the last update, this is the second time I've updated the Zoom application, but I'll give it a try anyway. Hope this works...

    The very same thing happened to me!!! Anyone please solve this problem it is a real pain and I am unable to join any meetings because i=of this issue

    Me: am so sad, I cannot even message anyone I have added on Zoom.

    Zoom: hmm... we'll try to fix that for you right after I do something else...

    Me: dies of disappointment unexpectedly...

    Zoom:  okay... we're all done... now what was it you wanted us to do for you again?

    what do you mean? Ireally wanna fix my problem. Also, fyi I am a online student and this effects the way I study so I suggest zoom to fix it for me as soon as possible

    For me the same - no chat in Tab "Chat" in main app window; zoom client 5.8.0.16 on linux, installed via snap. This happened since the snap was upgraded 3 days ago 😞

     

    I'm a basic user on a paid larger account.

    At least for me it seems to be an issue with the snap package of zoom: https://github.com/ogra1/zoom-snap/issues/91
