Can't agree more

Completely unfathomable … "Let's change our icon from a easily-recognized symbol, to a generic-color squircle containing a tiny bit of difficult-to-read text".  Wow, just … wow.

If the desire was to ensure the "Zoom" name is included, great - ADD it to the image on the icon (e.g. https://shpl.info/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/2021-07/ZoomLogo.png?itok=_YsYZGg9) . But don't drop the unique characteristics which help identify the app at a glance.

FWIW: The community has risen to the challenge over the past few years, and has made several alternative icons themselves which can be applied as you see fit - see, for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/lppg5t/for_the_guy_who_dont_like_the_zoom_icon_on_big/

One really finds it difficult to understand. It is hard to imagine there is anyone who would prefer the new one over the previous one. Why, Zoom?

I don't know why Zoom changed it. The old logo was fine and easily recognizable. The new one is drab and uninteresting.
