Can i use zoom slides like a whiteboard in my class?

I want to have my spanish lesson slides, then make notes with a stylus on my tablet like a whiteboard writing on top of each slide and everyone see what I am writing live and hear what in saying. Then go th the next slide and do it again.

I'm using a nice android tablet and stylus,

I have all my slides for class already made, but I'm not sure what to do next. Please help..

Hi Daddyo, thanks for reaching out and for the great suggestion!

At the moment, Zoom Slides doesn't support drawing or annotating directly on top of your slides — the only inking tool we currently offer is the laser pointer. That said, this is really valuable feedback, and we'll consider adding annotation support to our future roadmap.

In the meantime, you can achieve exactly what you're describing using Zoom Whiteboards: just export your PowerPoint slides as images, drop them into a Zoom Whiteboard, and then you'll be able to write on top of them with your tablet and stylus while everyone follows along live. That should give you the full "write-on-each-slide" experience you're after for your Spanish lessons.

Hope this helps, and happy teaching!

Hello,

Here is a link to the Zoom support documentation that explains the process. I highly recommend you practice well in advance and test it out before using it for a real class.

Using annotation tools for collaboration

Yes! You can use Zoom Slides as a simple whiteboard during class.

Some options include:

  • Annotate directly on slides using Zoom's annotation tools (draw, highlight, type text, stamp, etc.).
  • Share a blank slide and write on it as you would on a whiteboard.
  • Allow students to annotate as well for interactive activities.
  • Use Zoom Whiteboard if you need more advanced drawing, sticky notes, shapes, and collaboration features.

For basic teaching and explaining concepts, a blank Zoom slide with annotations works very well. If you need ongoing collaboration or brainstorming, Zoom Whiteboard is usually the better choice.

Yes, absolutely. A common approach is to share your slides in Zoom and use the annotation tools to write on top of them with your stylus while teaching.

A typical workflow would be:

  1. Open your presentation on your tablet or another device.
  2. Share the slides in Zoom.
  3. Enable Zoom's Annotate feature.
  4. Use your stylus to write, circle words, add notes, and highlight content directly on each slide.
  5. Move to the next slide and continue annotating.

Your students will see the annotations appear live and hear your explanations at the same time.

If you want a more natural whiteboard experience, you can also import your slides into Zoom Whiteboard (if available in your Zoom plan). This allows you to write on each slide like a digital notebook and keep your annotations organized.

For a Spanish class, many teachers find that sharing slides and annotating directly on them is the simplest and most effective setup. Just do a quick test meeting first to make sure your stylus works smoothly with Zoom's annotation tools on Android.

Yes. Share your slides in Zoom and use the Annotate tool with your stylus to write directly on each slide. Students will see your notes in real time and hear your explanation as you teach. It's a great way to use slides like a whiteboard.

Yes, you can do this in Zoom. The simplest way is to share your slides (PowerPoint or PDF) and then use Zoom’s annotation tools to write on top in real time with your stylus. You can also use “Share Screen” and switch to whiteboard mode if you want a cleaner writing space between slides.

Thanks to the zoom community for all the great answers! We are now practicing with several class slides in Zoom Whiteboard. We are able to annotate with writing text on top of each slide, with the tablet stylus.

While casting to a big flat screen TV in the front of the class.

Now, we just need to practice to be smooth and ready to present,
