Problem getting my profile back to where it was after apparent updates

I have been using Zoom for a few years. Everything was good until apparently, there were some updates and all of a sudden, everything seems to be scrambled. I can get into my account but when I click on settings, my virtual backgrounds are gone and there is nothing to click to get them back. I use Linux Mint 22.2. Is there any suggestions as to how to get back on track?

A recent Zoom update may have changed how virtual backgrounds are handled on Linux. A few things you can check:

    • Make sure you're running the latest Zoom Linux client and not an older package that may have compatibility issues with Linux Mint 22.2.

    • Verify that hardware acceleration and video settings are enabled. Some Zoom features, including virtual backgrounds, may disappear if Zoom determines your system doesn't meet the requirements.

    • Sign out of Zoom completely and sign back in. Occasionally, settings don't load correctly after an update.

    • Check whether the "Background & Effects" section is available under Settings. In some versions, Zoom moved virtual background options from their previous location.

    • If you installed Zoom through a package manager, try downloading and installing the latest Linux package directly from Zoom to rule out packaging issues.

    • Open Zoom from a terminal and look for any error messages related to video, graphics, or virtual backgrounds.

If the feature disappeared immediately after an update, it's possible that a bug or compatibility issue was introduced. It would be helpful to know your Zoom version, desktop environment (Cinnamon, XFCE, etc.), and whether virtual backgrounds still work during a meeting or are missing entirely from Settings.
