Setting up digital signage to display a Wallboard in a Zoom Room  trying to understand how the Digital signage physically gets to the Zoom room , do you need to assign a physical device to the room with a Mac address ? or a Zoom room controller, What if you are using a monitor and a micro PC i.e. “Nuc”

    Hi Martin13,

Thanks for your questions. Here’s some clarification on how digital signage works in a Zoom Room:

    1. Physical Setup:
      • Digital signage can be displayed in a Zoom Room using a monitor connected to a device, such as a mini PC (like an Intel NUC) or a dedicated signage player.
      • You don’t necessarily need to assign a device via a MAC address unless your signage platform requires it for device registration.
    2. Zoom Room Controller:
      • A Zoom Room controller is not required for the digital signage itself. It’s used primarily to control the Zoom Room functions. Signage content is managed through the signage platform or software you’re using.
    3. Using a Monitor + Mini PC (NUC):
      • Connect the NUC to the monitor and configure it with the digital signage software.
      • The NUC acts as the “physical device” in the room displaying the Wallboard.
      • Ensure the NUC is connected to the network and has access to the Zoom Room Wallboard URL or signage platform.

In short, the signage is displayed via whatever device you connect to the monitor, no direct integration with the Zoom Room controller is necessary.

Here’s Zoom’s official setup info for digital signage in Zoom Rooms: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article/KB0060299 : it explains how to enable digital signage content and assign it to rooms.

Digital signage in Zoom Rooms is actually tied to the Zoom Room device itself, not a separate MAC-based signage player.

If you’re using a setup like a NUC (micro PC) running Zoom Rooms, that device becomes the signage endpoint. There’s no need to assign a separate physical device via MAC address.

    A few key points:

    • The Zoom Room (running on your NUC or Mac/PC) is what pulls and displays the signage content
    • You configure signage at the room level in the Zoom admin portal
    • The controller (tablet/iPad) is just for control  it doesn’t handle signage
    • Signage typically shows when the room is idle or not in a meeting

So in your case (monitor + NUC), as long as the NUC is configured as a Zoom Room, it will handle the digital signage directly.

Would be interested to hear how others are handling multi-room signage setups or scheduling content!
