Unable to use car's Bluetooth through new phone

I just bought a new Samsung phone. I cannot connect to my car's Bluetooth audio through the Zoom app at all. It is very frustrating. I cannot find an audio setting in either the app or website that helps. My Bluetooth audio is working perfectly for evey other app.

    Hi @JPP44

I'm not familiar with the Android version of the mobile app. On the iPhone there are additional options for the Zoom app in the Settings for iOS. Maybe you'll find something in the Android equivalent.

    I hope that helps!

Did you ever get this working? I'm looking into zoom phone and really need it to bluetooth to my car because I travel so much.

I had a similar problem and upon going through a few forums, someone finally found the solution and it works. This is what you should do: try adding the "nearby devices" permission through the Zoom app settings

I have done that and it still doesn't connect. Permission is granted. Headset connects to zoom, other phone apps can connect to car. But zoom alone won't connect to car. Keeps coming out of phone, or will do headset. No car stereo. Anybody have ideas?

    Hello community members!

Please try clearing the cache and data for the Zoom app in your Android or Apple device settings, then log back into Zoom and test the functionality again.

I’m facing the same problem. The problems started when I moved from a Samsung Galaxy S24+ to a S25+. My car is a Peugeot 2008 from 2023. The problem also happens with Microsoft Teams app. It seems to be a problem when these apps in the phone are trying to use the “call mode” in the bluetooth connection. The problem happens in normal and “work profile”. I tried multiple solutions (clearing cache, upgrading software in my phone and car, reviewing all the permissions possible, re-connect the phone to the car, etc.). I understand that probably the problem is not on Zoom’s side, but I really appreciatte if you can help me to debug and fix it.

I think your last detail is important: this also happens with Microsoft Teams, not only Zoom. That makes it less likely to be only a Zoom app bug.

It sounds like the car and the phone can pair normally, but apps that use Bluetooth “call mode” are not being routed to the Peugeot correctly. Regular media audio and normal phone calls can work while app-based VoIP calls fail, because they may use a different audio route than normal Bluetooth music.

A few things I would test:

First, make a normal cellular call through the car. If that works, the car’s HFP hands-free profile is basically working.

Second, start a Zoom or Teams call while parked, then open the phone’s audio output selector during the call. Check whether the Peugeot appears as a call audio device, not just as media Bluetooth.

Third, in the Bluetooth settings for the Peugeot, check the separate toggles for Calls, Audio, Contacts, and any Android Auto connection. If the car is connected only for media audio, Zoom may not be able to use it as a call device.

Fourth, test with Android Auto disabled for one attempt. Some cars route media through Android Auto but calls through Bluetooth HFP, and that split can break with app-based calls.

Since you already cleared cache, updated software, checked permissions, and re-paired, I would not keep repeating the same basic steps. I would try to isolate whether the failure is specifically VoIP-call routing over Bluetooth HFP.

This is a general car Bluetooth troubleshooting breakdown, not Zoom-specific, but it explains why “Bluetooth connected” does not always mean calls, media, and app audio are all using the same profile:

If normal phone calls work through the Peugeot but Zoom and Teams do not, I would report it to Samsung/Android as a Bluetooth call-audio routing issue on the S25+, especially because the problem started after moving from the S24+.
