Phone devices are not changing the time per daylight savings time

Our Mitel 6940 phones have not switched over to daylight savings time.  It worked fine in the fall but not this time.  I do not want to go into each device to change the time.  Is there a provisioning command to do this?  The time zone is assigned to each user and I do not see an option to change it for devices.  I have added in an NTP server and a secondary one.  I did a resync account and the provisioning date changed but the phone did not reboot.  I wanted to open a ticket to find out why it failed but I also cannot find where I can open a ticket.  It only shows a virtual agent.

Hello @cherylm1

The Daylight Savings comes from the Time Zone configuration in the device itself and not necessarily from the NTP. Take a look directly in the phone UI what is the configured TZ.

I found this phone's User Guide (Page 56 and forward):

Not 6940 phones but 6930 phones the same is happening in our environment.  Even after a phone reboot and a factory reset the phone will not sync with the NTP server.  Same.  It did not happen last fall but this Spring forward hundreds of phones.  Confirmned that that the traffic for the NTP server was being sent from the MAC address so that isn’t the issue.

Hello @Chris Spencer , if the phones are not syncing with the NTP Server is a different issue:

You mentioned the traffic is being sent from the address, but the question is the traffic from the NTP Server is is coming back to the phone.

You need check there is nothing in the Network (i.e. Firewall) preventing that communication, or  if what I am reading is correct, the phone you mentioned (Mitel 6930) is EoL since July 2022 so maybe there are other factor to consider: Firmware/Certificate, etc.

Check in here the phone in question is in compliance to Zoom requirements:

https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0060242#mcetoc_1iermokgtb

If the Date and Seconds are correct to the point but it is just the Daylight Savings what is missing, it something controlled locally by the device config so take a look what it is currently configured directly using the phone's GUI

The firmware was updated on December it is EOL but not EOS yet as far as I know.   According to the device logs / time stamps it is coming back to the phone from the NTP server.

Hi! 👋 It sounds like the phones didn’t pick up the DST change from the server. A few things to check:

  1. Verify the provisioning file – Make sure the DST settings are included and correctly formatted.

  2. Check NTP sync – Even if you added servers, confirm the phones actually synced after the change.

  3. Device reboot – Some changes only take effect after a reboot. You might need a bulk reboot command if supported.

  4. Mitel support – If you can’t find the ticketing option, try accessing the support portal directly or reach out via email/phone; the virtual agent sometimes limits ticket creation.

Hope this helps troubleshoot without having to manually change each device!

hi @cherylm1

daylight savings time (DST) is implemented on the device such as a desk phone.  here’s what is see on my poly edge e series e450 after Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP):

i would guess you should see something similar on your mitel phone.  I used Zero Touch Provisioning to set up my Cisco, Grandstream, Poly and Yealink phones and have never had this issue.

According to the Zoom support article, Zoom supports Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) for the Mitel 6900 series.  I would try resetting a Mitel desk phone to factory reset and then use ZTP.   I do not have a mitel phone to check.

After doing ZTP you do not see DST being enabled on your Mitel phones, i would open a support ticket with Zoom.

hi @cherylm1

New Mitel firmware is coming out 3/22/2026.  Maybe the new firmware will fix the DST issue.
