Hi,

What should I get if I would like these features:

  1. I would like to call USA number from outside the USA(maybe from Japan or Indonesia)
  2. I have USA phone number and would like to link it to Zoom without porting. I understand this way I won't be able to receive call, but I would like to call my acquaintances in the USA, and it still shows my number in their phone

Let me know please

To use a number as Caller ID that number needs to be with the Telco service you are using, otherwise that Telco will have to Spoof the Caller; as far as I know the majority of the Phone providers won't allow Spoofing Caller ID unless they own the number, or they have some sort of a peer connection with a Telco or another service that owns the Caller ID and that the customer owns that Caller ID.

With that said:  Zoom will only allow spoofing a Caller ID only if you own the number and it is hosted with Zoom, so there is no scape to port the number, like i.e. there are multiple users in your Zoom Phone service, each one with their own number, then Zoom wo;; allow you to spoof any Caller ID that belongs to any of the users in the same account.

Unless you have a compelling reason not to get a new number (I can't think of one):

    • Get a Zoom Phone US Calling plan (which includes a telephone number) and it will allow you to take it with you to make/receive calls anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection that is not blocking Zoom Phone.
    • Give your acquaintances this additional ZP number to store/associate it with your contact information, and it will show always show the call as coming from you...and they can call you back.

I am sure is not the answer you wanted to hear but asking a Telco or phone provider to allow you choosing an arbitrary Caller-ID is not something you will find easily.

    Kind regards.
