"My Notes" - unable to export the transcript but I can' export the summary

I’m trying to use “My Notes” to save the transcripts of my meetings with clients.  It is saving the transcript but, when I try to export it, only the title goes, not the transcript.  I am able to export the summary, though, with no problem.  Can anyone help?  I’ve followed all the steps I can find on the internet to resolve this issue but, nothing is working.

Thank you in advance!

It sounds like the transcript is being saved correctly, but the export function may not be including the transcript content due to a bug, permission issue, or a limitation of the current Zoom Workplace version.

A few things you could check:

  • Open the note and confirm the transcript is fully visible before exporting.

  • Try exporting from the Zoom web portal instead of the desktop or mobile app.

  • Test with a different browser or device.

  • Ensure both Zoom Workplace and your browser/app are updated to the latest version.

  • Try duplicating the note and exporting the copy.

If summaries export correctly but transcripts do not, it may be worth opening a support ticket with Zoom, as this could be a product issue rather than a configuration problem.

Could you also share which platform you're using (Windows, Mac, web browser, iPhone, or Android) and the export format you're choosing? That may help narrow down the cause.

One strategy that has worked for me the last few months has been to click into the transcript from the My Notes page, highlight the whole thing (works best if you have a fast scrolling mouse!) and then paste it into the manual notes section below. You can then export the transcript. HOWEVER, as of this morning, I can’t seem to do this any longer. I can’t highlight the text to copy it. My next workaround I discovered is you can ask the AI chat to make a word for word copy of the transcript..it then starts writing that in the manual notes field. Annoyingly, this took maybe 4 minutes to create for a 30ish minute meeting. Not sure if any of you have tried to click/drag/copy/paste option in My Notes, but see if that works for you.

I’ve hit this block this morning as well - infuriating! I had gotten really speedy at copying the whole transcript, the AI summaries don’t capture the conversation completely. ZOOM - you’re moving away from the features that your customers are asking for!

Paid Pro member here with hundreds of users in my org that rely on this feature. Maybe MS Teams isn't so bad after all!

I guess i’m moving back to Microsoft Teams for the reason I am unable to download the raw transcript

It sounds like a bug rather than a user error. If the summary exports but the transcript doesn't, try a different browser or app. If that doesn't help, contact support with screenshots, as they can check if it's a known issue.

ZOOM TEAM - Any update on this? I’m sure it was an intentional change that needs to be reconsidered. You don’t improve a platform by removing features from users who pay for the platform. Not a move in the right direction. This needs to be turned back on asap. THIS ISN’T GOING AWAY!!!

I got an update speaking with the Zoom Support who are working with my company’s zoom admin. Below steps should (hopefully!!) return the functionality of being able to click > drag > copy the content under transcript section of My Notes so you can paste it in the manual notes field and then export the manual notes as PDF / .md / .txt file. It also makes it seem like this setting change could even let you potential just straight download the transcript without my annoying step in copying it to the manual notes..we’ll see!

My admin has yet to make these changes, but based on how clear the setting adjustment is, I’m pretty confident it will work.

  1. Sign in to your Zoom Web Portal
  2. In your navigation menu located on the left-side please scroll down until you see Account Management
  3. Afterwards click Account Management > Account Settings
  4. In your account settings Locate the "My Notes" section
  5. Afterwards locate the setting: "Allow notes transcripts in your account to be copied or downloaded" and then click the slider beside it to enable it.

Hello, everyone!

Thank you for your patience while we investigated this issue.

We found that this behavior was caused by a recently released setting that allows organizations to disable copying and downloading of My Notes transcripts. Due to an issue during the feature rollout, this change unintentionally affected some users.

Update: We've rolled back the change, and the previous behavior has now been restored. You should once again be able to download transcripts where applicable.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we worked to resolve this.

If you're still unable to download transcripts after the rollback, please let us know. We'll be happy to investigate further with you.
