Zoom video quality drops during screen sharing on new laptop, any fix?

Hey everyone,

I recently upgraded to a new laptop from Techyest for remote work and ever since the switch I've been noticing that my Zoom video quality drops during longer calls, especially when screen sharing. My internet connection is stable and other apps work fine.

I've already tried lowering the video resolution in Zoom settings but the issue persists. Could this be a driver issue or a Zoom setting I'm missing?

Would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this after switching to a new machine!

Hello, @amyvirk! Thank you for using the Zoom Community to seek support.

The fact that the quality drops during longer calls, particularly when you’re screen sharing, is a useful clue. Graphics or driver behavior could be involved, but there are a couple of Zoom settings I’d check first.

In the Zoom desktop app, go to 'Settings' > 'Share Screen' > 'Advanced' and look for 'Hardware Acceleration for Screen Sharing’. If it’s enabled, try disabling it and see whether the quality improves. This can help when screen sharing is putting extra load on the graphics side of the system.

Also check 'Optimize Screen Sharing for Video Clip'. This should generally be enabled only when you’re actually sharing a video. If you’re sharing slides, documents, or your desktop, leaving it on can make that content appear blurry.

Since the quality drop seems to happen specifically during screen sharing, I’d start with these settings and see if either one changes the behavior. I hope this helps!
