zoom meetings open as thumbnails on the task bar

This sounds like you are on a Mac. And that the window was not active on your screen?

You tried installing, but did you do a restart?

Thank you so much for your answer.  I an on a pc not a mac.  You must not have received my full post because I said that I downloaded several workplace apps and also closed the whole machine down and restarted.   It goes through the usual opening exercises but when it comes time to “join” nothing moves although I hear the rest of the participants and they see me.  If I touch the zoom icon on the task bar the mini screen comes up, about one inch by two.  This was a group of four whom I know well so it worked but will be a mess with two dozen.  Thanks for whatever you can think of,

That sounds more like a Windows window management issue than a problem with Zoom itself, especially since reinstalling Zoom didn't fix it.

A few things I'd try:

• Right-click the Zoom icon on the taskbar and select Maximize (if that option appears).

• With Zoom selected, press Alt + Space, then X to maximize the window.

• Press Windows + Up Arrow to force the active window to maximize.

• If you have multiple monitors (or recently disconnected one), press Windows + Shift + Left/Right Arrow to move the Zoom window back to your main screen.

• Check whether Zoom is opening in Picture-in-Picture or Mini Window mode. If so, look for the expand or restore button in the mini window.

If none of those work, let us know:

• Which version of Windows are you using (10 or 11)?

• Is the Zoom window completely invisible except for the taskbar preview, or is it stuck as a tiny floating window?

• Does this happen only with Zoom, or with other applications as well?

Those details will help narrow down the cause before your meeting on Monday.
