Zoom meeting in web browser: Something went wrong. Please close your browser try again

I am trying to attend a Zoom meeting using my web browser, Librewolf.  This web browser is very similar to Firefox.  So, whatever troubleshooting steps are available for Firefox should work here.

I am able to join the meeting and see the other person in the meeting.
But, after a few seconds, I get this message
Something went wrong. Please close your browser try again.

When I tried again, the same thing happened.

    Hi @A B,

We’re glad to have you here. Welcome to Zoom Community!

I’m sorry for the inconvenience. May I know what device are you using and have you tried using a different browser to see if you would still get the same error?

You may also try downloading and use Zoom app which often resolves browser-related issues.

I already stated in my original post that I am using a Firefox similar browser.  So, I am just looking for troubleshooting steps that are applicable to Firefox.

I am using a desktop computer.

I prefer not to use the Zoom app.  In my opinion, there are many good reasons not to want to use software that installs itself on the users computer.

This might be a browser compatibility or permissions issue LibreWolf is more privacy-focused, which can sometimes break services like Zoom.

Try allowing camera/mic permissions explicitly, disabling strict privacy settings/shields for Zoom, or test in regular Firefox/Chrome to confirm. If it works there, then it’s likely something blocked in LibreWolf

I don’t think that it’s an issue with the camera or mic.  If that was the issue why would it work for a little while?  Also, before the other participant joined the meeting, Zoom let me test the video and sound and the test was successful.

I guess I could try it in Firefox.  But, it’s tough for me to test outside of a live environment since I don’t have close relationships with people that use Zoom.

@A B I can usually (not always) fix this by logging out of Zoom everywhere (e.g, if you’ve signed in through google or another platform, log out there for sure), on all devices. Firefox should work. VPNs, browser extensions/blockers can get it the way sometimes.

If you download the app, you can choose not to allow access to other apps/data, turn on end-to-end, set other security/data/privacy options, etc. There are thousands of scarier installations out there than this one.

This doesn’t sound like your problem, and the above should help, but I have seen account owners use this setting occasionally…
