Hi everyone, has anyone recently experienced audio delay or lag during Zoom meetings even with a stable internet connection? Sometimes the video works fine but the audio comes a few seconds late. Any settings or fixes that helped resolve this? Thanks!

If you are experiencing audio delay during a Zoom meeting, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

🌐 Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection

Audio lag is often just your network struggling to keep up.

  • If you can, plug into a wired connection — that’s always the most stable.
  • On Wi-Fi? Try moving closer to your router or disconnecting other devices.
  • You can also run a quick speed test — aim for at least 3 Mbps upload/download for a solid Zoom experience.

🎙️ Step 2: Adjust Zoom Audio Settings

Let’s make sure your settings are optimized:

  1. Open Zoom → Settings → Audio.
  2. Click Advanced at the bottom.
  3. Here’s what to tweak:
    • Turn on “Show in-meeting option to enable Original Sound.”
    • Enable “High fidelity music mode” if you’re using professional mics.
    • Only disable “Echo cancellation” if you’re wearing a headset.

These settings help reduce the delay and improve overall sound quality.

💻 Step 3: Close Extra Apps

Sometimes it’s not Zoom — it’s your computer multitasking a little too hard.
Before joining a meeting, close apps like Spotify, Teams, or any cloud backup tools.
They can hog bandwidth or CPU power, which makes your audio lag behind.

🔄 Step 4: Update Everything

It might sound simple, but keeping software up to date really helps.

  • In Zoom, click your profile picture → Check for Updates.
  • Also, update your audio drivers, especially if you’re using external gear.

🧪 Step 5: Try Another Device or Network

Still hearing that lag? Try joining from another device or a different network.
If the issue disappears, then you’ve narrowed down the culprit — it’s likely your device or connection.
