Zoom is logging me in multiple times

Recently, on 3 separate occasions, I logged in as a guest to another host’s scheduled meeting. When I clicked on the invite link, it logged me in multiple times, I appeared in the participant window as 3 times???- and I couldn’t close any of the “2 extras” and had to log out completely- but when I tried to re-enter the meeting the same problem occurred...ANY SUGGESTION OR HELP AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING???

Hello, @Dorian Stern! I apologize for getting back to you late.

I understand how confusing and disruptive that can be. This usually happens when the Zoom link is opened multiple times—for example, the browser launches Zoom while the Zoom app also opens, or multiple browser windows/profiles trigger the link. Each launch can create a separate guest connection, causing your name to appear more than once in the participant list.

    Please try the following:

    Fully quit Zoom, then rejoin

    • Windows: Right-click the Zoom icon in the system tray → Exit/Quit
    • Mac: Zoom Workplace in the menu bar → Quit Zoom Workplace

Then open the meeting link once.

Join directly from the Zoom app

    • Open the Zoom desktop app → Home → Join, then enter the Meeting ID and passcode.

This helps avoid duplicate launches from the browser.

Avoid opening the link multiple times

    • Close extra browser tabs/windows with the invite link and use only one browser/profile.

    Use only one sign-in method

    • If you’re signed in on one session and joining as a guest on another, Zoom may create duplicate entries. Either sign in first and join once, or join as a guest only.
