zoom freezing on osx 12.1

ever since updating to osx 12 (intel) I can't use zoom. When I try to join a meeting it just freezes and I get the spinning wheel. I can't even open the settings page. I already tried reinstalling zoom but that didn't help. I am using version 5.8.6

      Yea, discovered this Zoom app was using 25GB+ of RAM. And I am tired of hearing "it's your internet"... It works fine on the same network on Android... but crashes on OSX. I am going to have to try running it inside a virtual env just to work. The app is really poorly written when it has that bad of memory leaks.
