Question

Zoom for Ukrainians

Good afternoon!

As far as I know, Zoom meetings hosted by users physically located in Ukraine are now free of the usual 40-minute time limit. However, my meetings are still limited to 40 minutes.

Could you please explain why this might be happening and let me know how I can access this benefit?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks for reaching out on this. The 40-minute limit in Zoom Meetings is tied to the host's account type rather than the host's physical location, it applies to Basic (free) users, including Basic users who sit on an otherwise paid account, and lifts automatically once the host is assigned a paid Meetings license. So if your meetings are still capping at 40 minutes, the account hosting them is most likely still classified as Basic rather than Licensed. That benefit may have been temporary, limited to specific qualifying accounts, or something Zoom enables manually on a case-by-case basis rather than something that applies automatically.

A few things worth checking on your end: confirm the host's account type by signing into the Zoom web portal and checking Profile, which will show whether the host is listed as Basic or Licensed. Make sure the host is signed into the correct account, not a personal or free account, and that there's no VPN or proxy affecting how the account is being read. If the account type looks correct but the limit still isn't lifting, it's worth contacting Zoom Support directly to ask whether the account qualifies for a Ukraine-related meeting-duration exception. They'll likely want the account email or ID, the host's physical location, current account type, and a test meeting date and time to investigate.

If it turns out there's no exception available for the account, the only guaranteed way to remove the 40-minute cap is to have an account owner or admin assign a paid Meetings license through User Management.
