Zoom CRC Connector – Joining external Zoom meetings on Cisco Board Pro 75 G2 & Desk Mini without host CRC license

Hello everyone,

We have the following Cisco devices in our office:

  • 1 × Cisco Board Pro 75 G2 (Meeting Room)

  • 5 × Cisco Desk Mini (for individual users)

Currently, when we receive Zoom meeting invitations, the Join button only appears if the meeting is hosted with a CRC license.

At the moment, we do not have any Zoom licenses.

We are considering purchasing:

  • Zoom Workplace Pro – Annual (Qty: 1)

  • Zoom CRC Connector – Annual (Qty: 6)

Our usage scenario is mainly joining Zoom meetings hosted by external organizations.
About 99% of the time we will only join meetings, not host them.

Question:
If we purchase the above licenses, will our Cisco devices be able to join Zoom meetings from external organizations even if the host does NOT have a CRC license?

Or will the Join button only work when the meeting host has CRC enabled?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

From what I understand, the key factor here is the CRC license on the attendee side, not necessarily the host.

If your organization has an active CRC license and the Cisco devices are properly configured (SIP/H.323 with Zoom or via the Zoom API Connector), those devices can join external Zoom meetings even when the host does not have a CRC license. In that case the system uses the attendee’s CRC license to establish the connection. (Zoom)

However, there are a few requirements for this to work smoothly:
    • The user joining must be a licensed Zoom user with a CRC license available.
    • The Cisco device needs to be provisioned correctly (often via the Zoom API Connector).
    • In some cases you may still need to join using a pairing code if the meeting wasn’t scheduled in a way that enables one-touch join. (Zoom)

So in your proposed setup, having 1 Zoom Workplace Pro + multiple CRC Connector licenses should allow your Cisco devices to join most external meetings, even if the host doesn’t have CRC enabled, as long as the devices are mapped to those licenses.

That said, the exact behavior can depend on how the Cisco devices are integrated (RoomOS configuration, calendar integration, API connector, etc.), so it might be worth confirming the provisioning method before purchasing multiple CRC licenses.
