Zoom crashes when launching

OS: Kubuntu (Linux), fully updated

Since I updated to Zoom version 6.4, it crashes when I try to launch it.  It takes 3 or 4 tried before it finally launches.

I clicked the notification to update it to  6.4.6, but my browser opens to a file on my system, and shows nothing but code.

Any idea what I can do about the crashing issue and/or getting Zoom updated?

Hi @jyoung65,

Welcome to the Zoom Community! We're glad to have you here.

Kindly try to remove Zoom completely, including any configuration files and locally saved Zoom app settings.

You can check out this article on how to do it in Linux.

Let us know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

Thank you for your reply.  Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  I had time to purge Zoom from my system today, and reinstalled.  It started up on first launch, so hopefully it's all good now.

One thing I wonder about: Even though I purged Zoom (via the Linux terminal with the purge command that us supposed to get rid of all configuration files), after reinstalling I didn't have to sign in again.  It started up normally with me already being signed in.  This makes me wonder if it didn't actually purge everything, and perhaps the original problem will come up again.

I'll mark your post as the solution for now, and see what happens. 🙂
