Question

would not let me in meetings yesterday

I tried to get into two zoom meetings yesterday (both invites from the same organization).  Identical to weekly meetings I’ve been zooming for almost six years.

I was taken to the meeting site, and could see the others...but just for a brief moment.  Then a screen went up and said my device could not enter the network.

My laptop is the same one that has been on the other zoom calls...and I have made no changes to it since last week’s meetings.

Anyone got any advice?

    Hi @Darrell Borghi,

I apologize for the late response.

That message usually points to a network/security block (often on the meeting host’s side or somewhere between you and their network), not a change on your laptop—especially since you can briefly see the meeting and then get kicked.

    Try these Zoom-specific steps:

    1. Try a different network (quick isolation test)
    • Join the same meeting using a mobile hotspot (or a different Wi‑Fi).
    • If it works on the hotspot but not your normal network, it’s almost certainly a firewall/proxy/security rule on the blocked network.
    1. Try the Zoom web client
    • Use the meeting link and choose Join from your browser (web client). This can help if the desktop client’s traffic is being blocked.
    1. Turn off VPN / proxy / security filtering (temporarily)
    • If you use a VPN, disconnect and try again.
    • If you’re on a managed/work network, security tools can block Zoom traffic after connection attempts. Zoom’s guidance is to review firewall/proxy rules and allowlist required Zoom traffic.
    1. Update the Zoom Workplace app, then rejoin
    • An outdated client can sometimes trigger compatibility/security controls in some environments. (Update, restart Zoom, try again.)

If this only happened with invites from that one organization (and other Zoom meetings work), ask that organization’s IT/admin to check whether your connection/device is being blocked by their security controls/firewall rules and to verify their Zoom allowlisting.

Also, are you getting any error codes aside from the message that you are getting?

I hope this helps you with your query.

Since both meetings were from the same organization and it happened at the same time, something almost certainly changed on their Zoom admin settings rather than anything on your end. Just as Bayaran Trafik Selamat makes it easy to resolve traffic issues without unnecessary back and forth, ask the organizer to check if they recently enabled authentication profiles, network domain restrictions, or device management policies on their Zoom account. In the meantime try joining from your browser instead of the app, or test from a different network like your phone's hotspot to narrow down whether it's your device or your home network being blocked.
