Workplace App on Mac Instantly Reverts to Web Client on Login

Running MacOS 10.14.6 with a new download of Zoom Workplace app (Basic free acct)...when I login, the app instantly reverts to the Zoom web client. What's going on...how do I troubleshoot?  Thanks!

I am having this same issue! I have a paid account, and find that if I open a meeting from any link I see this same behavior. The only work around is if I own the meeting and choose to "Start" it manually from the desktop app.
