With dual monitor, sharing PPT slides in Presentation View, how do you see Gallery View of Students?

I'm trying to learn how to use dual monitors and share the Presentation View of PPT slides, which allows me to see the notes for each slide while sharing the other view without the notes. The problem is- I can't see the gallery view any more of the attendees, so if I want to interact with a specific student, I have no idea who is out there?

Do I have to share the 'normal view' of PPT slides to be able to see the Gallery View of participants?

Also, a secondary issue, when I try to share the 'normal view' of PPT slides, sometimes the screen share 'auto-pauses'. When I send students to 'Breakout Rooms' for a group task, usually, the previous screen share process has stopped, and it has to be restarted. The restarting process can throw fragments of screens around on the desktop views of the students, which is less than desirable.

Any thoughts on how to address this? Getting pretty frustrated here.

Im not able to see my video panel while sharing my screen. When i go to zoom support it says to go to more then meeting controls. However i dont have access to MEETING CONTROLS when i press the more button on zoom. How can i get access to my Video Panels another way. I want to share my screen and see my students but this is not showing automatically when i start my zoom.

Did anybody get an answer to this? I have been using Dual Monitors, and every time I put PPT into presentation mode, I lose my participant gallery. My choices are to have the shared screen on one monitor and presenter dashboard on the other, or have 2 screens mirroring each other... both showing the shared screen. Totally unacceptable for either a class or a meeting. We need to see the folks we are interacting with. I am willing to sacrifice the presenter dashboard for a gallery view, but don't think Zoom will allow it.

Hello @kinofrad! First, ensure that your computer recognizes both monitors by checking your display settings. Then, open Zoom and start your meeting, sharing your PowerPoint slides. In PowerPoint, select the "Presenter View" option, which will allow you to view your notes and the current slide on one screen while the audience sees the presentation on the other. On your second monitor, which is displaying the presentation, switch to Gallery View in Zoom by clicking the "Gallery" button. This will let you see all participants while continuing your presentation. If necessary, resize the Zoom window so it fits alongside your presentation without blocking important content.

Hi @Diana Jacob,

You can definitely keep Gallery View visible while presenting PowerPoint — you don't need to share PowerPoint's Normal view.

If you're using two monitors, the easiest setup is:

Students: See only the full-screen PowerPoint slides
You: See Presenter View with your notes on the other monitor
Zoom: Keep the meeting window on the monitor you're not sharing, so you can still see everyone in Gallery View

Here's how I'd set it up:

1. Set up PowerPoint Presenter View
Open your presentation and go to Slide Show → Use Presenter View.

2. Start your Zoom meeting
Once you're in the meeting, click Share Screen.

3. Share the monitor showing your slides
You'll see your available screens/monitors. Select the one where you want the full-screen PowerPoint slides to appear, then click Share.

4. Start the PowerPoint slideshow
If PowerPoint puts the slides and Presenter View on the wrong screens, use Swap Displays from the PowerPoint Slide Show controls. You want the setup to look like this:

Shared monitor: Full-screen slides for your students
Other monitor: Presenter View + your notes

5. Keep Zoom on the other monitor
Move your Zoom meeting window to the monitor that isn't being shared, then switch Zoom to Gallery View.

If Gallery View isn't showing up, the first thing I'd check is where the Zoom meeting window is located. If it's sitting on the monitor you're sharing, the PowerPoint slideshow can cover it or Zoom may simply be hidden from view.

Once Zoom is on the non-shared monitor, you should be able to present your slides while still keeping an eye on your students in Gallery View. I hope this helps!

Thank you; I’m going to try again. I’ve watched several tutorials but as of yet have not been able to master the way I could show the PPTs and maintain a view of the participants. I’m hoping this will work. I appreciate your response.
