Window location and size

It appears to me that every window on Windows remembers it's last location and size when the application is closed.  Except Zoom Meetings.  It opens this huge oblong box covering 2/3rds of my screen every. single. time.  I move it to the side and and resize it to get my work done.  Restart, boom, back to the center.  

 

I know, first world problems, but seriously, why can't Zoom perform like every other application?  

Yes, I've shift-closed, ctrl-closed, closed following any other article I could find that would give me a clue. 

 

(Don't get me started about the "X" in the upper right corner not closing an application.  I'm seriously thinking this app is getting a kardashian complex (huge resource usage, always has to be the center of attention, can't believe everyone doesn't know who it is..)

    It does this on macOS as well. Random window placement every time, including when going into screen sharing.

     

    It feels like a Zoom programmer actually went out of their way to create a routine to randomly size and place windows.

      Two years later from this post and I still have to size and position meeting/chat/user list windows on EVERY meeting (8x per day). And have to paste a link every time a child enters the meeting since I can’t pin a message. And this is the world-leading meeting software. But no worries… there’s plenty of resources towards adding more cosmetic filters and AI with assuredly more to come.

        I suffer the same problem. I want my zoom workplace to go to a specific screen location, and specific size when I start up but it always resets itself to something else. #whyisthishard

          Hi ​@Tom Levesque,

           

          Thank you for joining the community! Zoom Workplace on Windows doesn’t currently have a setting to remember the app window’s size or position when you open it. The available window settings are mainly for in-meeting behavior, not where the main Zoom app appears on your screen.

          If Zoom keeps opening as a large or oddly shaped window, here are a few things you can try:

          1. Fully exit Zoom first
            Click the ^ near the taskbar clock, right-click Zoom, and select Exit. Then reopen it and check if the window behaves differently.
          2. Check Compatibility settings
            Right-click the Zoom Workplace shortcut → Properties → Compatibility. If any compatibility or high-DPI scaling options are enabled, try turning them off, then reopen Zoom.
          3. Sign out and restart Zoom
            Sign out of Zoom, fully exit it from the system tray, then open it again and sign back in. This can sometimes clear a window layout that seems stuck.

          If it’s still happening, let us know if you’re using Windows 10 or Windows 11, along with your display scaling setting (such as 125% or 150%). We can then take a closer look at what might be causing it.

          I found the “enter full screen automatically” setting on my MacBook in the Zoom Workplace Settings - the one that is part of the menu bar. It’s right after About Zoom Workplace. Select “Meetings & Webinars” and turn on or off the “Enter full screen automatically” - it’s the 2nd to last option in the ‘Join experience’ section of that window.
