While waiting for a meeting to start i want to be able to put myself on mute.

You can do it from your Zoom desktop client.

Disable audio by default

To enable Mute my microphone when joining a meeting:

1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client.
2. Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
3. Click Audio

4. Select the Mute my microphone when joining a meeting check box.

Disable video or audio by default when joining a meeting

After clicking Join, you can also disable audio or video before entering a meeting by toggling the following options. 

To disable audio or video before joining a meeting:

1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client and join a meeting.
2. Select the Do not connect to audio check box.
3. (Optional) Select the Turn off my video check box if you want to disable your video.
4. Click Join.
