want to stop "This meeting is being transcribed"

I have tried every single zoom article on how to stop the transcription and for the life of me I cannot get it to be turned off when a meeting is started. I do not want my meetings transcribed. What else can I try?

Hello, @OIG 1! Great to have you here in the Zoom community. Welcome!

In most cases, the “This meeting is being transcribed” message is caused by Zoom’s AI Companion Meeting Summary, audio transcription, or cloud recording settings being enabled at the account, group, or admin level—not just your personal settings. You can try the steps below to see if they help.

Sign in to the Zoom web portal (as the meeting host).

    • Go to Settings → AI Companion.
    • Turn off Meeting Summary with AI Companion or
    • Disable any option that automatically starts AI features when meetings begin.

    Check recording and transcription settings

    • Go to Settings → Recording.
    • Turn off Audio Transcript.
    • Disable Automatic Cloud Recording if you don’t want meetings recorded or transcribed.

    Review individual meeting settings

For scheduled meetings, open each meeting and:

    • Turn off Automatically Start Meeting Summary.
    • Turn off Automatically Record Meeting.

During a live meeting (if it starts unexpectedly):

    • Click More (or AI Companion).
    • Select Stop Summary / Stop Transcription.
    • Stop recording if it’s running.

If the changes don’t stick or the options appear grayed out, it usually means you are using a managed Zoom account provided by a work, school, or organization. In this case, the settings are controlled at the admin level, so you will need to contact your Zoom administrator and ask them to disable the AI Companion, transcription, and recording policies for your account.
