Why not support the virtual background on my device ( samsung tab s9 fe)

    Best answer by iambobsat

    Hello Alria,

    Thanks for reaching out!

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE unfortunately falls into a category of devices that Zoom doesn't fully support for virtual backgrounds.

Why It's Not Supported: Zoom's virtual background feature on Android requires specific hardware capabilities — particularly a powerful enough GPU/NPU and a chipset that supports the real-time AI segmentation needed to separate you from your background.

The Tab S9 FE uses the Exynos 1380 processor, which is a mid-range chip. Zoom maintains an internal allowlist of supported chipsets for virtual backgrounds on Android, and the Exynos 1380 doesn't meet the performance threshold. This is a Zoom-side restriction, not a Samsung one.

For comparison, the Tab S9 (non-FE) uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is supported — the "FE" (Fan Edition) models use lower-tier processors to hit a lower price point, and that's the tradeoff.

I hope  this answers the question. Please let us know if there is anything elese we can help.

    hi @Alria A.D ,

Zoom backgrounds need a good level of processing to be produced and I regret your device would not be suitable.

It would also eat up battery.
