Video recording shows small participant images during screen shares

My company is having problems with the participant 'filmstrip' changing to a much smaller size during screen shares for our video recordings even though this area is set to a larger size during the recording and we see it as larger.  We primarily utilize the desktop client on Windows 10 or 11.

Our investigations indicate that adjusting the bar that separates the participant area from the screenshare area can help but still doesn't reflect the ratio we see on our screens.  Also, when another participant shares their screen, the participants videos/the strip of videos, resets to a smaller size.  Is there a method to ensure a consistent participant view size throughout the recording, preventing it from shrinking excessively?

It sounds like maintaining a consistent participant view is tricky, much like how implementing digital brand strategy consulting services requires careful alignment to ensure every element stays proportionate and effective.

Hi! 👋

I’ve noticed similar behavior in video recordings when using the desktop client on Windows 10/11. The participant filmstrip often shrinks during screen shares or when another participant starts sharing, even if you’ve set it larger initially.

A few tips that might help:

  • Adjust the divider bar between the screen share and participant strip before starting the recording this sometimes helps, but as you mentioned, it’s not always consistent.
  • Check if your video layout settings in the client allow locking the participant panel size. Some versions of the client have a “lock video panel” option.
  • Consider pinning key participants  this can help maintain their video size during screen shares.

From my experience, fully preventing the shrink isn’t always possible due to how the client auto-adjusts layouts during live shares, but combining pinned participants and locking the layout can reduce the issue.

Has anyone found a more reliable way to keep the filmstrip consistently sized in recordings?
