Video - face too bright

Hi all,

I sit facing a window, but not in direct sunshine.

My face appears ridiculously white, and I can’t find any option in Zoom to turn the brightness down a bit. The reason this looks like a Zoom issue is that I also use Teams, and with the exact same background image (or indeed no background image) my face isn’t as white or washed out. It’s still bright but much better in Teams with the same cam. The only setting that looks vaguely related is Adjust for low light. This doesn’t help, unsurprisingly, I need the opposite. In the Windows camera app it is also better than Zoom.

Any ideas (other than putting the blinds down)?

Sorry but this reply looks automatic as I had already stated that the low light settings weren’t helpful. What I needed was the opposite.

In any case in the hope it can help some other poor anaemic looking albino, here is what I found which works:

I can lower the brightness in windows which makes me look all pink and vaguely human.

Hello @neznamnista,

Welcome to the Zoom Community! We’re glad to have you here!

If your face appears too bright or washed out in Zoom, you can try adjusting the low light settings:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop app.
  2. Click your profile picture, then go to Settings.
  3. Select the Video & Effects tab, then Camera.
  4. Toggle Adjust for low light. Set it to manual and use the slider to adjust to your preference. The video preview will update as you make changes.

This is the main adjustment available in Zoom for brightness. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you may want to check your camera's own software for additional controls, as Zoom does not currently offer a direct brightness reduction feature.
