Hi all,

just having a problem with a HP chromebook. can join zoom meetings all ok, but the video button has the line through it as if it is off, when you try to click it, it just doesnt come on, the line goes off for less than a second and then the line just comes up again and it says off.

i have checked the camera works and all is ok there. just happening in zoom. i have also uninstalled the app and re installed it.

any ideas what to try next

any help appreciated

    Hi,

I would suggest checking your camera privacy setting in your Chromebook itself for Zoom.

My privacy setting in Chrome is on with permission.  The camera still has a line through it.

Did you install Zoom from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=us.zoom.pwa.twa ? or did you install Zoom from somewhere else?

    Hello,

A video button with a line through it on an HP Chromebook indicates that the camera is physically or electronically disabled for privacy reasons. This is usually managed by a small slider, a key on the keyboard, or a system setting

Many HP Chromebooks have a small, almost invisible physical switch on the side of the laptop or right above the screen next to the camera lens.

    • Look for a tiny switch near the webcam lens.
    • Look on the left or right edges of the laptop body.
    • Slide it so that the red or orange color indicator is hidden

Some HP Chromebooks use a function key to enable/disable the camera.

    • Look at the top row of your keyboard for a camera icon.
    • Press the key once to toggle it on.
    • If that does not work, try holding the Fn key and pressing that camera key simultaneously

    Regards
