Question

verifying my video works on zoom meetings

my video seems to go out when I’m on zoom meetings.   Sometimes the video won’t start, or other times in the middle of a zoom meeting,  there is a glitch,  i never lost connectivity, although there was a pop up message, then I noticed I could not get video to be visible in the meeting.  The zoom was 4 hours long and was recorded.  I left the meeting and rejoined again, but no luck getting my video on.

Is there a quick way for zoom support to test my video right now?   I just reset my computer, an hp laptop.   I also want to add a back ground picture of myself as well, I don’t pay for Zoom.

    Hi @Thomas Binninger,

Thank you for joining the community, I am sorry to hear that you are having this difficulties. You can test your Zoom video right now, and there are a couple quick checks that usually fix the “video won’t start / disappears mid-meeting” issue.

Test your camera immediately (no support needed)

    • Join Zoom’s test meeting: https://zoom.us/test
This lets you verify whether Zoom can see your camera and start video before your next meeting.

Quick fixes when video won’t start or vanishes

    1. In the meeting, click the small arrow next to Start/Stop Video → Video Settings, and confirm the correct camera is selected.
    2. If you have more than one camera option, switch to another one in the dropdown to see if video returns.
    3. Try switching cameras with Alt+N.

Add a background picture (free account is OK) Virtual Background can be used on free or paid accounts, as long as your Zoom app version/device supports it. Requirements are here: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0060007
