Welcome to the Zoom Community, @Neil Oag! We're glad to have you here. Let's see if we can get your camera working again!

This usually means another app or background process is using your camera, even if nothing appears to be open. Let's try a few quick checks.

If you're using Windows:

  • Close other apps that may be using the camera, such as Teams, Skype, Webex, or the Camera app. Check your browser tabs, too.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Check your camera permissions under Settings > Privacy & security > Camera (Windows 11) or Settings > Privacy > Camera (Windows 10). Make sure camera access is enabled.
  • If the issue persists, update your camera driver and try reinstalling Zoom.

If you're using macOS:

  • Quit other apps that may be using the camera, including FaceTime, Photo Booth, and browser tabs.
  • Restart your Mac and test the camera in FaceTime or Photo Booth.
  • If the camera works elsewhere but not in Zoom, try reinstalling Zoom.

You can download the latest version from the Zoom Download Center.

Still having trouble? Let us know which operating system you're using and whether the camera works in other apps. We'll help you narrow it down.

Thanks for this. Managed to get everything working - video, audio - by not using the Zoom site and installing the app on my laptop instead.

You’re welcome, Neil! Glad to hear you got everything working. It sounds like the desktop app was the solution! Thanks for sharing what worked for you; it may help others experiencing the same issue. Have a great day!
