Unwanted WhatsApp number showing on my zoom link message

For zoom meetings in my group I will copy and paste the zoom link in our chat for easy access. Recently, when I paste the link a WhatsApp phone number shows in the pasted message even though the WhatsApp number is not in the original message. When I try to edit the number out the number doesn't appear in in the edit box. What can I do to stop the WhatsApp number from appearing. I do have WhatsApp on my phone but I rarely use it and only to read messages, not send

Hi @Jane Gio -- Thank you for joining the Zoom Community and I’m sorry for this late response.

It looks like this issue is caused by how WhatsApp automatically generates link previews when you paste a Zoom meeting link. To stop WhatsApp from showing a phone number along with the Zoom link, you can try the following fixes:

    1. Disable WhatsApp link previews

      • Go to WhatsApp Settings → Privacy → Advanced, and turn on Disable link previews.
      • This prevents WhatsApp from creating automatic previews that may accidentally pull and display a phone number 1.
    2. Paste the Zoom link as plain text

      • Add a simple character (like a period “.” or a space) before the link when pasting it.
      • This stops WhatsApp from recognizing it as a hyperlink, preventing auto-formatting and unwanted number generation 2.

These steps should keep the Zoom link clean and stop WhatsApp from embedding unexpected phone numbers.
