Hi,

I have just bought the upgrade to do real time translation but I have no idea how to turn it on so I can use with my meetings to another country. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi @Nicholas Bernstein, welcome to Zoom Community! Here’s how to turn real time translation on and start using it in your Zoom meetings or webinars:

    1. Enable Translated Captions in Your Account

      1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
      2. Go to Settings → Meeting → In Meeting (Advanced).
      3. Turn on Automated captions and then enable Translated captions.
      4. Choose the languages you want to make available (for example, English ↔ Spanish, French, Japanese, etc.).
      5. Click Save.
      • Note: If you’re part of an organization, your admin may need to enable this feature at the account level before you can use it.
    2. Use Real‑Time Translation in a Meeting: Once enabled, you can activate it during any meeting or webinar:

      1. Start your meeting.
      2. Click the “Show Captions” or “CC” button on the toolbar.
      3. Select “Translated Captions”.
      4. Choose your spoken language and the language you want captions translated into.
      5. Participants can also select their own preferred translation language from the same menu.
      • The translation happens in real time so participants will see captions in their chosen language as people speak.
    3. Supported Languages and Quality

      • Zoom supports dozens of language pairs, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
      • The translation quality depends on the clarity of speech and background noise. Using a good microphone and speaking clearly improves accuracy.
    4. Best Practices

      • Update your Zoom client to the latest version to ensure the translation UI appears.
      • Use a headset for clearer audio input.
      • Enable captions early in the meeting so participants can select their preferred language.
      • For webinars, ensure panelists and hosts also have translation enabled in their settings.
    5. Limitations

      • Real‑time translation currently works for spoken‑to‑text captions, not voice‑to‑voice audio translation.
      • Each participant must enable captions individually to view translations.

For more information, check out Enabling and configuring translated captions. Hope this helps!
