• What's your primary purpose for using transcripts in your interviews? (e.g., note-taking, publishing verbatim quotes, legal documentation, research analysis, etc.)
• What type of interviews are you conducting?
• Are you recording these interviews as cloud recordings, or are you using Zoom’s My Notes?
• Are you the host of these interview meetings, or are you joining as a participant?
• You mentioned the option to deselect timestamps doesn't work — can you walk me through exactly where you're finding that toggle and what happens when you click it?

  • It’s for note-taking

  • It’s a 2 person session for personal appts that I like to record for retrieving information. 
• Are you recording these interviews as cloud recordings, or are you using Zoom’s My Notes?
  • Yes, sessions are via cloud recordings
• Are you the host of these interview meetings, or are you joining as a participant?
  • I’m the host

  • Under Cloud Recording settings, I deselected the timestamp option.

1. AI Companion Meeting Summary
   Enable Meeting Summary with AI Companion to create an organised summary of the discussion, including the main topics, key points and any agreed next steps. This will usually be the quickest way to review an appointment without replaying the entire recording.
2. Cloud-recording audio transcript
   Because you are already recording to the Zoom cloud, enable Create audio transcript in your cloud-recording settings. Zoom will produce a searchable, timestamped transcript alongside the recording. You can use it to locate a particular part of the conversation and then play the corresponding section of the recording.

For note-taking, I would use the AI Companion summary as the first reference and the transcript when you need more detail or want to check the precise wording. Bear in mind that automated transcripts can contain mistakes, particularly with names, technical terminology, accents or poor-quality audio, so important information should be checked against the recording.

I have this floating notetaker icon so I can pause the notes when I need to. At the end I get a full meeting summary with a transcript.

Thank you for your reply, John. 🙏 It’s very much appreciated. I actually used those features for my meeting this morning and they were useful. 👍

I will go through the video and copy and paste sections, I guess. This is more time consuming for me. 

I would really like a transcript without timestamps so I can highlight notes that are important to me. Maybe the summary feature will be more accurate than Otter, time will tell. But because I’m dealing with medical information, I would like to have more control and going through 200 pages of transcript notes in Word because of the 3 second timestamps that cannot be turned off is unbearable, IMO. 

Hi ​@WSC19641 - Thanks for the additional context! Building on John's recommendation, another option worth exploring is Zoom's My Notes feature. My Notes automatically generates a transcript — timestamps included. If you'd prefer a cleaner read, you can use Zoom AI to strip them out. Just prompt it with something like:  "Please provide a clean transcript for this meeting without the timestamps" and Zoom AI will take care of the rest for you!
