transcription starts from 51 minute of zoom meeting

Cloud recording audio and video start at 00:00, but the Zoom-generated transcript starts at 51:00. There is only one recording file set, and re-downloading the transcript does not fix it.

    Hello @MartA Piechowicz,

    Welcome to the Zoom Community!

You can try these quick checks:

    1. Open the recording in the Zoom web portal instead of only checking the downloaded files.

      • Confirm whether the transcript is also offset in the web playback view.
    2. Check whether the transcript was edited.

      • If edits were made, compare against the original transcript if available.
    3. Confirm whether the recording has separate audio, shared screen, or gallery/speaker view files.

      • Even if there is one recording file set, transcript timing can sometimes appear differently depending on the playback view.
    4. If the web playback transcript is also starting at 51:00, this likely needs review as a cloud recording transcript processing issue, and you may submit a ticket to our technical support team.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your support.

I was able to identify the cause of the issue and find an alternative solution, so I no longer require further assistance.

It appears that the part of the recording that was captured using the “Original Sound for Musicians” setting did not generate a transcript, while the later section recorded with the standard audio settings was transcribed correctly.

I still find this somewhat surprising, as the audio quality in the recording is excellent and my voice is very clear throughout. However, this seems to explain why the transcript only begins later in the recording.

As a workaround, I used an external transcription service to generate the missing portion of the transcript, and the issue has now been resolved.

Thank you again for your time and assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Marta

    @MartA Piechowicz

Thank you so much for reporting this!  It’s the first I’ve heard that enabling Original Sound pauses the transcription. It’s great feedback like that which helps us all learn more.

Did you discover this on your own, or was there some input from Zoom Support that flagged this as the cause for you?  I’ll be doing some testing over the next couple of days to see when Original Sound stops the transcript. In my original testing moments ago, I started the cloud recording with normal Noise Removal mode active, then turned on Original Sound for a minute or so, then went back to Noise Removal, and the transcription continued while the Original Sound was active. Later I’ll test by starting the Cloud Recording with Original Sound enabled at the very beginning, and see what I can do to reliably reproduce the issue you experienced, so I can pass this on to Zoom Engineering for evaluation.

Thanks again… come back any time!

    Hello,

    Thank you for following up.

I have already found a solution and described it in my comment above. The issue appears to have been related to the use of “Original Sound for Musicians,” which prevented the transcript from being generated for part of the recording.

I was able to obtain the missing transcript using an external transcription service, so the issue has now been resolved and I no longer need further assistance.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to help.

    Best regards,
    Marta
