Question

The joining notification beeps at scale

For users who aren’t quite zoom-savvy who host large scale zoom meetings, trying to get their attention to suppress the sound effects of people joining/leaving the room fails. I feel a good feature would be that if the meeting exceeds a predefined number of attendees (ie, 20, 100, 200?) could the notifications automatically shut off? Or if the number of attendees invited exceeds a certain level?

    Welcome to the Zoom Community!

That’s a thoughtful suggestion and one that many hosts of large meetings would appreciate.

At present, Zoom does not have a built‑in option to automatically disable the join/leave sound notifications based on the number of attendees or invitees. The host must manually toggle this setting either:

    • In the Zoom web portal under Settings → Meeting → In Meeting (Basic) → Play sound when participants join or leave, or
    • During a live meeting from the Participants panel by selecting More → Play Join & Leave Sound

You can help improve Zoom by giving us feedback about your product experience. Kindly check this support article on how you can submit feedback/feature requests. Thank you.
