Selecting screen to be recorded when multiple screens are being shared simultaneously

I have international meetings with language interpretation. When one participant is presenting, we will have multiple screen sharing by the host (myself), the speaker and one more volunteer participant. This is so that we can show the speaker’s slides in their native language as well as show the slides translated into 2 other languages (so that other participants can view the slides /screens in their preferred language, while listening to the interpretation).

The problem: I have not been able to figure out how to have the correct screen recorded so that the screen with the correct language slides match the speaker’s language. Sometimes the speaker is French and showing their slides in French, but the English slides (screen-shared by a different participant) get recorded. Sometimes the speaker is English but the Spanish slides from someone else’s shared screen get recorded. How can I ensure that the correct screen gets recorded, so that the slides match the speaker’s language?

I asked AI (voice), and the response was: “Before recording, make sure only the correct participant’s screen is being shared. After you start recording, others can share their screens. The recording will capture the MOST RECENTLY shared screen.”

I asked if this meant that even if I have selected the correct participant’s screen on my own computer, once I start recording and the other 2 participants share their screens, the recording will SWITCH to the most recently added screen. AI said yes, that is correct. But that then is a problem, because it will switch away from the speaker’s slides. Or does this mean we screen- share the two screens in the languages we do NOT want recorded, and only after I start recording, the speaker should share their screen so that it is “the most recently shared screen”?

I then asked AI (chat) the same question, but got a different response: “
When multiple participants are sharing screens in a Zoom Room, you can assign each shared screen to a specific display using the Zoom Room controller. However, Zoom does not provide an option to select a particular screen to record when multiple screens are shared simultaneously; the recording will capture the active shared content as managed by the meeting host or the Zoom Room settings”.

I then asked how I could be sure the correct screen would be recorded, and AI/chat said it did not have an answer to that question.

I hope a real person can answer!

    hi @Marcia Ishii
this is a really good question and I think the short answer is No.

I dont think the Zoom recordings engineering team have tacken on the challange of recording more than one sharae and the logic would then be that it should record the most recent share.
How that works then you select two shares, I could not say with certainty.

So my fall back would be to look at local recording which is expect to work on the logic of what you see, gets recorded. So, if you are looking at gallery mode, then that is recorded and if you are looking in speaker mode that is recorded.
So, if you select the screen share on a machine doing a local recording, then I would expect that to be the one recorded on that machine.

I know this is not the best answer for the situation, but it is the one I can be more certain of at this point.

I would also assume that if you were to use streaming of the webinar, that the same problem would manifestm but as thesew two parts are written by different teams, they may not share the same outcome, although I really hope they do.

I may get something more for you from trying this out myself.

Please like and mark as the solution if this helps

    All the best
