Question

searching for a participant in a very small meeting

We typically have 5 or fewer people in our weekly meeting.  When an intruder enters and starts bouncing around (using raise hand / lower hand rapidly), we cannot “catch” him because he moves too fast.  In larger meetings, there is a Search Field at the top of the Participants List.  No such Search Field exists in small meetings.  How do small meetings’ Security “catch” an intruder if he can’t be “Searched” (i.e., if he can’t become motionless in the Participants List)?  With more intruders/bombers, this feature should be available to ALL meetings no matter the size. Thank you in advance!

hi @SusanWMD

I wrote an app to help police this. It is the hand raised app in the Zoom Marketplace and in free.
You set a threshold and if somebody keep raising and lowering their hands the system can kick them or just put them back into hte waiting room.

Please like and mark as the solution if this helps

That app sounds perfect.  Thanks so much!  What is the app’s name, and is it in the Zoom Marketplace?

I feel your pain small meetings are definitely vulnerable when an intruder moves too fast in the Participants List.

A few workarounds I’ve seen:

  • Manually watch the participant list closely and have someone assigned to monitor it while others focus on the meeting.
  • Enable waiting room so participants must be admitted manually  this prevents intruders from appearing in the first place.
  • Lock the meeting once everyone expected has joined.

Totally agree that a search field for small meetings would be super helpful  it seems like a gap that Zoom could address to make security consistent across all meeting sizes.
