Question

recording settings

I'm trying to find a way to ensure that gallery view will be used for recordings instead of speaker view but I do not see an option to do that in the recording settings.  My account is Zoom One Pro.  I apologize if this has been asked before.

Hello,

There are several recording layouts for local and cloud recordings depending on the video layout of your meeting.

Some recording layouts are possible with local recordings, some with cloud recordings, and some that are possible for both.

This Zoom support articles explains what is possible.

If you're recording locally to your computer, I *think* you're view needs to be in gallery view.  Test that out though.  I don't do a lot of local recordings so I'm not sure.

For cloud recordings though, you can adjust your cloud recording settings to record gallery view by the following:

  • Log into your Zoom account via your Zoom web portal.
  • Click Settings on the left, then Recording across the top.
  • Scroll down a hair until you see Cloud Recording.
  • Uncheck the options that say "Record Active Speaker...", and make sure the ones that say "Record Gallery View..." are checked.  You can even record separate video files if you wish.
  • Save changes.

I have mine setup like this because being in an university setting, we have our Zoom cloud recordings push to our video content management system, and this is what was recommended.

Hope that helps.
