Recording only the host

Does anybody know how to set up a meeting where you only record the host and not the participants? It's that possible?

Hello @Kmvail,

Welcome to the Zoom Community! We're glad to have you here.

Zoom does not offer a built-in feature to record only the host’s video and audio while completely excluding all participants from the recording.
However, you can achieve a similar result by using the following methods:

  1. Spotlight the Host: During the meeting, you can spotlight the host’s video. When you record in Speaker View, the recording will primarily show the host when they are speaking. If only the host is spotlighted, the recording will focus on them.

  2. Mute Participants and Turn Off Their Video: Ask participants to mute themselves and turn off their video. This way, only the host’s video and audio will be captured in the recording.

  3. Edit the Recording Afterward: If any participant’s video or audio appears in the recording, you can use video editing software to remove those sections after the meeting.

To spotlight the host:

  • Hover over the host’s video, click the three dots (...), and select Spotlight for Everyone.

To record in Speaker View:

  • Start the recording and ensure you are in Speaker View, not Gallery View.
