Recorded View of meeting is different then view on recording computer on Windows

At the church, we have Windows PCs.  The laptop is the host and a desktop is the co-host.  The co-host shares a PowerPoint.  The host views the shared  PowerPoint side by side speaker view at half and half (50% shared content and 50% speaker camera).  However starting just 2-3 weeks ago, the recording MP4 shows more like a 75/25 or 80/20 view.

HOWEVER, at home I have the same scenario, but with a MAC desktop and Laptop and the recording at 50/50 still works as desired.

The support BOT now says the only way to get the 50/50 view is to record to cloud versus computer.  I set up cloud recording on the zoom client at the church to show content and speaker side by side on the web portal and will test this in the upcoming service.

Why did this change?  Why does recording to computer work on the MAC but not the Windows?  Is this truly the only solution and is it reliable?

THANKS

Hi @JohnB6.

The documentation might lead you to believe that “what you see on screen will be what you get in the recording”, but this is almost never consistently the case.  For example, if you spotlight multiple participants, you can get two or more cameras visible on screen, but the recorded Speaker view will generally be of the Active Speaker.  I’m not aware of the Mac behaving any differently, but not a Mac users.  If you got a recording whose view was consistent with what you saw on-screen, my first thought would be this was likely done with something like OBS capturing the screen.

But if you are seeing a difference between Mac and Windows, please come back and provide a few details.  Especially important is the version of Zoom Workplace on each device, and also helpful is the operating system version.  It would also help to provide a screen shot of your recording settings.  With this info, we might be able to figure something out.

Looking forward to hearing after this weekend’s test!
