Recorded sound timing not synched to video

I’ve noticed on my last couple videos that the sound recording doesn’t match the timing of the video. In fact there are visual pauses of me talking but the recording is still speaking.  It looks off and of poor quality.  This has happened using my desktop and my laptop so I can’t blame it on the computer.  Advice and shared experiences to help fix this would be appreciated.
