Recent change for Transcriptions

Is there anyone else out there that is dissatisfied with this recent change with Transcribe in meetings? Since the host now has to start the transcribe feature in meeting, my users are not happy about it.

Yes, there have been several posts in the community about this - have you received an official statement from Zoom that this is known/expected behavior? Would love to hear their stance.

No, not yet. Once I hear back I will post here.

Hi! You are definitely not alone—many users are frustrated by this workflow shift. This was a recent security and resource-optimization update by Zoom to prevent unnecessary AI token and data processing on empty or unmonitored sessions.

How to fix / Workaround: If you have account-level admin access (or can coordinate with your IT admin), you can bypass this in your Zoom web portal settings. Go to Settings > Meeting > Automated Captions / Transcription and ensure that 'Enable automated captions by default' is toggled ON.

If the admin configures it globally to auto-start, individual hosts won't have to remember to manually trigger the pipeline every time. Hope this helps streamline your team's meetings again!

I conduct meetings where transcription is not allowed. According to your logic how should this be handled if the host does not control it?
