Pop Up timer notification

I have the Zoom Basic 40 Minute plan. When the popup warning me there is 10  minutes left comes up and I click on it to get it off the screen it ends my session and I have to restart the session for the last 10 minutes.  Why does this happen. It never used to.

    Hi Dwight Seeley,

Thanks for reaching out about the issue with the "10 minutes left" warning on your Zoom Basic 40-Minute plan session.

Based on what you've described, the popup appearing and then clicking it causing your session to end immediately instead of just dismissing the warning, there are a few possible causes:

    1. Session limit reached: The 40-minute limit may already be hit by the time the popup shows, so any click registers as ending the session rather than closing the notification.
    2. Popup/button behavior: The popup may not be a simple "dismiss" — the click location could be landing on or near an action that ends the meeting rather than just acknowledging the warning.
    3. Client or display issue: An outdated Zoom client, display scaling, accessibility settings, or overlapping dialog boxes could cause your click to be misregistered as an "End Meeting" action instead of a simple dismiss.
    4. Account/license changes: A change in account status (e.g., downgrade, license reassignment) could also affect how this warning behaves compared to before.

Suggested steps to try in the meantime:

    • Update to the latest version of the Zoom desktop app, sign out and back in, and test there instead of a browser or mobile device.
    • When the popup appears, click away from where "Leave" or "End Meeting" buttons would normally be, using a mouse rather than touch if possible.
    • Check for unusual display scaling or accessibility software that might be shifting where your click actually lands.

Since this does seem to be a change from previous behavior and may require deeper diagnostic checking on the account/client side, we'd recommend submitting a ticket to Zoom Support so they can investigate the specific cause. When you do, please include:

    • Your Zoom client version and operating system
    • A screen recording (if possible) showing the popup and the click that ends the session
    • The approximate time/date of a recent occurrence

This will help the support team pinpoint exactly what's triggering the early session end and get it resolved for you.
